The use of recycled aggregates in place of natural aggregates is an option that can make concrete a less polluting material while also lowering costs and making the building cheaper. However, the production of concrete with construction and demolition residues (RCD) is faced with finding an optimal design to achieve the best mechanical performance. Therefore, this document aims to carry out a selection and systematic analysis of scientific articles to evaluate the current research scenario on the influence of RCD on the replacement of aggregates for concrete. For which 55 documents extracted from databases such as: Scopus, Science Direct, and Scielo were reviewed, considering the publications that were between the years 2015 and 2021. The results have shown that it is not convenient to totally replace the natural aggregates with RCD, because the higher the replacement rate of the aggregates, without any additional compound, the more affected the mechanical properties of the final concrete will be. In conclusion, it can be stated that the use of these residues is economically beneficial, taking into account that they should be used in replacement percentages not greater than 50% and preferably only for fine aggregates.
